Fayose seeks to complete aborted 2006 tenure Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State said on Monday said that he would contest in court his removal from office during his first term tenure... He said since the Supreme Court had ruled that his impeachment was illegal, null and void, he reserved the constitutional right to contest the removal. According to him, since his tenure had been adjudged by the Supreme Court to have been illegally truncated, he had no option than to approach the same court to seek interpretation of the judgement. The governor said the pertinent question to ask the court was whether by virtue of an earlier judgement in his favour dismissing his removal, he had no right to seek to complete his remaining tenure of seven months. He emphasised that the case as to whether he was entitled to complete his tenure or not must first be determined before there could be another governorship election in the state in 2018.

A human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has advised the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo not to sign the 2017 budget because it was illegally increased by the National Assembly. He also said that President Muhammadu Buhari is not competent to sign the appropriation bill into law because he is on vacation. Falana spoke in Ilorin, during a colloquium organised by the Movement for Genuine Change to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of Kwara State. He explained that once Buhari had transmitted a letter to the National Assembly that he was proceeding on vacation, all presidential powers had automatically been transferred to Osinbajo who is now the Acting President. He stated that until the President writes another letter to the federal parliament at the end of his vacation, he cannot exercise the powers of his office. N449.5Million Seized By EFCC Forfeited to FG Justice Rilawan Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, May 19, 2017 ordered the final forfeiture of the sum of N449,597,000 found in an abandoned Bureau de Change shop in Victoria Island, Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The forfeiture order followed a motion on notice taken before him by the anti-graft agency. The temporary forfeiture of the money was ordered on April 19 till today for one Mohammed Tauheed, who was joined as respondent in the suit and any other interested party to appear before the Judge to give reasons why the money should not be finally forfeited to the Federal Government. At the resumed hearing of the case today, the Judge ordered the final forfeiture to the Federal Government as no one came forward to claim it.
